The ‘dragon bet‘ is a side bet in baccarat. To win the bet, the dealer’s 3 card total of 7 must beat the players hand. When won, the bet pays off at 40 to 1. This gives many players an incentive to try and figure out a system to improve the otherwise horrible odds.
In this case, card counting does appear to provide an advantage to the player

If you are not ‘into’ card counting of any sort, then just keep in mind which cards are good.
- As more 8 and 9 cards are played, it becomes better to place a dragon bet. This is because when those cards are gone, the dealer is more likely to need to draw a third card.
- Likewise, it is good to bet when the deck is full of cards from 1 to 7
The ‘numbers’ also speak very favoralby for learning how to count cards for dragon bets
- Each shoe should have about 7 rounds with favorable odds
- Each shoe should produce a profit of about 60% of your bet amount
- Your profit will be about 8% of your average bet
So have fun and enjoy. But be aware that a dragon bet is terrible without a favorable card count.
